I'm a nerd. I'm ok with this title. In fact, I'm more than ok with this title. Why am I a nerd?
Well, I have fun doing budgets..so that pretty much makes me a complete nerd. Yes. You heard me right..
Tonight I got together with a good friend of mine and we tackled her first real budget ever.
We sat down with all of her current finances, her income she will receive this coming month, all of her fixed expenses, her debts, and her dreams and we built a plan.
The best part? She had a debt that we discovered could be paid off in two months instead of the year she was planning just because she put every dollar to work and decided to take charge of the money she is earning.
Paying off debt is rewarding.
So is helping someone else pay off their debt, just by setting up a budget. Now, it's her job to learn to stick to her budget. Every time she discovered she had money still left to allocate we got to celebrate how budgeting was actually going to give her freedom.
It's not a joke. Financial freedom actually comes from having a budget, not the lack there of.
