Bittersweet

It's never easy, no matter how much you realize the reality that life is short-its still shorter than you ever know. Today we lost a dear co worker- my "boss" as I generally teased him when I worked in the accounting department. Cary was an integral part of Youth WIth a Mission Denver. He was on staff here for 15 years, and left behind a legacy.
About 3 months ago Cary was diagnosed with a tumor on his brain stem, it was an aggressive tumor and though he received some treatment- healing would need to come through a miracle. Today Jesus took him home to be with him.
Cary became one of my most avid supporters when I joined staff. Why? He said he believe in me and that I was worth investing in. He did this with a lot of staff-he championed people.
My life has been very impacted by him. I'll miss him and the random encouragement, telling him to go home late at night when I'd stop by and see him working away......
It's so weird that he's gone. It doesn't make sense. I know God is faithful and He knows what's best, but it still hurts.

A day in the life of Carmen and stacy: stacy wakes up 10 minutes before church, Church. Carmen works on a rug. Stacy cuts her hair into a mullet. Carmen laughs. Carmen tries to be an informed american citizen. stacy does the dishes. Carmen makes french fries. They laugh some more.




This is my status today. I have to laugh! Seriously my roommate gets sick of her hair and so she take scissors to it and it winds up looking like a mullet! Who does that?? hahah! 
And yes..I am making a rug. Right now it's green. Making it out of old flannel sheets that had pretty well wore out. May try to find some more second hand because I am in decisive of using other fabrics in it. It's one of those braided rugs, i will post a pic of the completed project. 

The BEST is coming.

Tomorrow starts a new quarter with many new faces, stories and a continuation of adventure with Jesus. We have been anticipating and praying for the arrival of these students and over the weekend as they have begun to arrive I get more and more excited. So far everyone I have met has been so much fun and ready for the schools to begin!
I made a bunch of apple crisp yesterday and it was so much fun to bring it for the early arrivals to enjoy. Many of them traveled from overseas and quite a few from Canada. Also one from Mexico. Often its nicer for our foreign students when they can arrive a day early to adjust to the time and get settled. Anyway, it's been fun-took a few of them to run some errands today and get things they still needed. We also took some of them to church.
Often the first week of the school is my least favorite just because there is so much talking and getting to know people. I would rather skip that week and just get on with it. But it is an important week nonetheless :-). But I think this time around it will be a lot of fun. I just have this anticipation in my heart. We have been talking and praying and come the consensus, why would not this be the BEST quarter we have ever seen? Lets go for it! I know God has so much in store for these students. He is so excited that they have chosen to take 5 months of their lives to specifically focus on Him and their relationship with Him. They could be doing so many other things, and yet here they are. Thank you Jesus  for letting us be a part of this season of their lives! You are so good!
